Brazilian waxing is the removal of all hair in your intimate area, while a regular bikini wax is the removal of pubic hair that has crept outside the bikini line boundaries. A Brazilian wax sometimes involves leaving a small strip, often called a ‘landing strip,’ just above the pubic bone, but more common these days is the full Brazilian wax - removal of all pubic hair, including hair that may grow between your butt cheeks!
Is a Brazilian wax painful? We won't lie - it's not entirely painless, but using the right technique, the right type of wax (we like hard wax for Brazilian waxes) and possibly an Advil or two, the experience can be less unpleasant. Everyone has different pain thresholds, and many new clients have said it "wasn't as painful as I was expecting". First time Brazilian waxes are taken more slowly, removing smaller patches of hair at a time to minimize pain.
Before your Brazilian Wax at Kelowna Esthetics Studio
For the best Brazilian wax results, hair should be between 1/4 and 1/2 an inch long - this ensures the hard wax can bind to the hair and remove it from the root.
Make sure the area you plan on removing hair is well exfoliated and not oily.
If you are close to your period, be aware that your skin will be more sensitive.
Some people find taking 2 Advil 30 minutes prior to their appointment can reduce the discomfort.
Brazilian Wax aftercare
Avoid hot water, exfoliation, gym activity and the sauna for 48 hours.
After 48-hours, exfoliate to prevent in-grown hairs.
Apply a gentle bikini cream to soothe any skin sensitivity.
If any issues arise or persist after 48 hours, see a dermatologist immediately.
Have you ever felt stubble after getting a Brazilian wax? That’s because some of your hairs were still in the early growth stage and not long enough to be removed by waxing. With regular waxing every 3 to 4 weeks, you are more likely to get your hair on the same growing cycle which can take up to 4 waxing treatments - then all the hairs come out together. Don’t be discouraged if your hair doesn’t stay gone too long the first few times. The more you wax the longer it will last.
