Do not use any retinoid products for at least 5 days before your peel
Do not use acne topical agents for at least 5 days before your peel
Do not use Accutane for at least 5 days before your peel
Do not have botox or fillers before a chemical peel
Do not take antibiotics or anti-inflammatory medications before a chemical peel as these can cause photosensitivity (extreme sensitivity to ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun and other light sources)
Avoid taking blood thinners
Do not use BHA or salicylic acid (used in The Renewing Mini-Facial) if pregnant of if you have sensitivity to aspirin.
If you also have the following treatments, please wait the indicated time between that treatment and a chemical peel:
Microdermabrasion - can have a mild peel immediately, otherwise wait a week
Chemical peel aftercare After a chemical peel, it's best to treat your skin like it has experienced a mild burn:
Your skin will be red and slightly irritated for 30-45 minutes. If the skin is really irritated, apply a soothing mask for 10 minutes.
Do not pick or scratch your skin.
Do not take antibiotics or anti-inflammatory medications for at least a week following your peel. These can cause photosensitivity (extreme sensitivity to ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun and other light sources).
Do not use any retinoid products (e.g. Retina A), acne topical agents, or creams containing glycolic acid for at least 5 days after a peel because they can irritate freshly exfoliated skin.
Do not use any harsh scrubs or soaps for a few days.
Avoid the sun for 5 days, then wear a high-quality sunscreen of SPF 30+ when you go into the sun.
