What are henna brows? Brow henna is the next big thing in eyebrow colouring. It works differently on the hair and skin compared to tinting. Whereas tinting uses an oxidant to open the cuticle of the hair to allow colour to penetrate, brow henna on the other hand, provides a coating to the hair shaft. It coats the top layers of the hair cuticle, smoothing out the finish of the eyebrow hair, giving the appearance of a thicker, softer and smoother eyebrow.
Brow henna also helps to strengthen and restore hair growth and improves the natural condition of the eyebrow hair. Brow henna is ideal for people who have sparse, over plucked brows, or who need a boost of colour and want to try something different to tinting. Brow henna at Kelowna Esthetics Studio is $25 by itself, or $35 when combined with a wax.
How long does eyebrow henna last? Brow henna lasts 7-14 days on the skin and 4-6 weeks on the hair. However, our skin regenerates daily, so it is difficult to predict exactly how long the brow henna skin stain is going to last for your particular skin type. Oily skin or dry skin can affect the longevity of the stain or make the skin more resistant to staining. The darker the stain used, the longer it will last.
How do I prepare for brow henna? Avoid spray tanning for two weeks before having eyebrow henna applied.
How long does it take for the true colour of the brow henna to come through? On many clients the eyebrow henna colour is perfect straight after the application, however, on other clients, it can take an hour or two. It does depend on the colours used and the base hair colour of the client.
