A lash lift is a super low maintenance lash curling service that uses a series of safe, FDA approved creams that will curl, set, and condition your natural lashes, leaving you with a long-lasting, natural looking lift.
What’s involved in the lash lift procedure?
Step 1: After cleansing the lashes and separating your bottom lashes from your top, a silicone shield will be glued onto the lower lid using a safe, gentle adhesive, similar to the glue used to apply false lashes. The same glue is applied on top of the shield as well, then your lashes are gently combed up onto the shield where they will adhere.
Step 2: Next, eye-safe perming solution is applied which softens the bond of your hair so that it's moldable. The perming lotion is left on for 9-12 minutes, depending on your hair type. If you have a hard time curling the hair on your head, let technicians know that when doing lash lifting as you’ll likely require closer to 20 minutes.
Step 3: Once the perming solution has been carefully removed, the setting solution is applied. Again, this lasts 9-12 minutes, and is designed to re-bond the lash hair back into its new shape. If the lashes are also being tinted, the tint would be added now.
Step 4: Finally, a nourishing oil is applied for 2-5 minutes which loosens the glue and releases the lash, and add moisture back into the lashes. The silicone shield is removed and you’re cleaned up! If you want to add a tint to your lash lift, this is when it would be conducted.
Lash lifts last six to eight weeks so it’s usually recommended that clients come in at the eight-week mark for a redo. The nicely curled lashes will have fallen out, and new, flat lashes have grown in their place. Sometimes you’ll need your lash lift done sooner, sometimes it will last longer. It all depends on your lash cycle.
The first 24 hours after a lash lift are the most crucial. You shouldn’t wear mascara or any other eye products, and you should absolutely avoid getting them wet with water, steam, and any forms of moisture and humidity. This 24-hour moisture abstinence will help your lash keep its curl for much longer!
