What are lash extensions?
Individual classic lashes are made from a product called PBT or Polybutylene Terephthalate (you’ll learn about this in the course). Shaped into a slight taper, these lashes imitate the look of a natural lash with mascara. They add length, thickness and curl to the wearer's natural lashes.
To apply, the lash artist uses precise tweezers to dip the lash extension into a medical-grade adhesive and places it onto the natural eyelash, bonding the extension in place. For classic lash extensions, each natural lash is bonded to one PBT lash extension. For volume lashes, a fan made from multiple, but much thinner lash extensions is attached to each individual natural lash.
The adhesive can last about 4-6 weeks depending on how careful the client is - the more they rub their eyes, wash their face, etc. the quicker the adhesive will wear off. For this reason, client’s usually have their lashes filled every three weeks, filling the lashes that have fallen off or out, and removing an replacing any that have grown out.
