Protecting your lash extensions during the summer months

Oil in sunscreen can break down lash adhesive and cause your extensions to fall out prematurely, and sweat can cause sunscreen to run onto your lash extensions which can compromise their longevity. Check out these tips for maintaining your lash extensions throughout the hot summer month!​

Tips:

• Make sure you keep your lashes dry for at least 24-48 hours following a fill. No pools, lakes, showers etc! 
• Stay out of intense heat for 24-48 hours after a fill as it can affect retention. The glue is still bonding for up to 2 days. When possible stay indoors and out of the heat while the glue is still setting.
• Look for a sunscreen with an oil-free formula. If thats not possible and you must use regular sunscreen, be extra careful to keep it out of your eyes.
• Be just as careful when washing sunscreen from your face too. Using a washcloth can help you avoid contact with your lash extensions.
• Try wearing a headband, cap or visor. This will help reduce excess perspiration and further protect your skin and your summer lash extensions.
• Wash and cleanse your lashes right away after coming inside. Use a fan to dry your lashes thoroughly to prevent excessive exposure to water.
• Carry a handheld fan to keep your lashes dry and free of sweat as this will extend the length of your extensions.
• At the end of the day your hair and lashes both grow more quickly during the summer.  Don’t be alarmed by additional shedding.  You may want to consider coming in for fills more frequently to maintain your full set of lash extensions.
